What is 529 Day?

529 Day was created to raise awareness about the importance of saving for future education with a 529 plan, which is a tax-advantaged investment tool that offers tax-free growth and withdrawals when used for qualified education expenses. A 529 plan can help your family save more for their future education, so when you ask them “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, they can dream big.

What is The Education Plan?

The Education Plan, offered by the New Mexico Education Trust Board, is New Mexico’s direct-sold 529 education savings plan.

A 529 education savings plan is designed to help families pay for college and future education expenses. Money in a 529 education savings plan has tax advantages, is professionally managed, and may benefit from the power of compounded growth.

Funds in a 529 plan can be used to pay for a wide variety of qualified expenses, including tuition, room and board, books, supplies, and more at eligible institutions nationwide. The funds in a 529 plan aren’t limited to just traditional four-year colleges. Families can also use the savings to pay for K–12 tuition (up to $10,000 per year), vocational training, and even registered apprenticeships.

The Education Plan allows you to open a tax-advantaged account directly and choose from a variety of investment options designed to meet your needs, situation, and risk tolerance.

Ready to start saving for your child’s future education? You can open an account with The Education Plan in about 15 minutes and contribute whatever amount you choose to get started.
